Buenos Aires – (dpa)

Argentine President Alberto Fernandez said the government will announce a new offer to creditors on Sunday after talks collapsed with some of the major debt holders.

“The show will be revealed today,” Fernandez said in an interview with local radio.

“We have made a huge effort to keep our promise. This is the maximum we can do,” he added in the comments, reported by Bloomberg News. He continued that the new offer will be available until the end of August.

Talks over Argentina’s debt have stalled in the past few weeks, as little progress has been made in agreeing how to restructure about $ 65 billion of bonds.

The South American country set July 24 as the next major date for an agreement on its debt.

It had entered its ninth month in its history of default on debt last May, and has repeatedly extended the deadline for reaching the agreement, until Sunday.
