Requests for liquidation suspect Ridouan Taghi handled behind closed doors

Behind closed doors means that except for the parties to the proceedings – the court, prosecutors, his lawyer and security – no one is allowed to be present in the courtroom or hear what it is about. The Public Prosecution Service has unsuccessfully opposed the closing of the doors.

Transfer to the Netherlands

Weski’s requests are related to the transfer of Taghi from Dubai to the Netherlands. It is unclear which privacy aspects would be affected by this.

Special transport

Taghi, 42, was arrested in Dubai in December after having been a fugitive for years. Taghi’s arrest would have been accompanied by the necessary violence. A few days later he was taken to the Netherlands by special transport. Since then he has been on remand in the extra security prison in Vught.

Justice regards Taghi as the undisputed prime suspect in Marengo. He is said to have ordered a series of liquidations. A total of seventeen suspects are on trial in Marengo.

From Tuesday, an interim hearing round will take place in the extra secure courtroom at Schiphol. Taghi is not present in person. He also did not appear in the courtroom at previous sessions this year.
