Dr. Mohamed Abdullah, the official spokesman for the Musicians Syndicate, stated that the funeral of the musician Helmy Bakr will take place today, Saturday, at the Sayyida Nafisa Mosque. The exact date has not yet been determined, as the date will be determined immediately upon his son’s arrival from travel, as he arrives at a quarter to four in Cairo.

As for the funeral, it will take place tomorrow, Sunday, from Al-Hamidiyah Al-Shazliya Mosque, as confirmed by the head of the Musicians Syndicate, artist Mustafa Kamel. Musician Helmy Bakr passed away yesterday evening, Friday, after a major struggle with illness at the age of 85. He is considered one of the most famous musicians and composers in Egypt and the Arab world.

Helmy Bakr performed many melodies for major Egyptian and Arab singers, including Laila Murad, Warda Al-Jazairia, Najat, Mohamed Al-Helou, Mayada El-Hanawy, Asala, Medhat Saleh, Ali El-Haggar, and the operetta melody of the Arab dream.

Bakr performed more than 1,500 music melodies with major male and female singers in the Arab world. He also performed about 48 melodies for a musical, the most famous of which are My Beautiful Lady, Music in the Eastern Quarter, and Hedayat.

Musician Helmy Bakr passed away in Kafr Saqr Hospital in Sharkia after his health condition deteriorated. Dr. Muhammad Abdullah, a member of the Musicians Syndicate Council, announced to “Youm7” that the Syndicate had confirmed its full readiness to treat him, provided that his family approves, because the Syndicate will not do anything without the approval of his family. But fate did not give them the opportunity for Helmy Bakr to leave, leaving all those differences behind him.
