Football analyst René van der Gijp is going to marry his girlfriend Minouche de Jong. De Jong already announced this through her in November Instagram Stories, but the news is only now coming out.
“On October 31, René asked me to marry me. Because we first wanted to tell our close family & friends, we kept it quiet for a while. But now everyone can know!”, Says De Jong. In addition, she places a photo of herself with Van der Gijp.
De Jong and Van der Gijp are both from Dordrecht. They met in 2016 because their children were in school together. The couple has been together for about two years.
Van der Gijp was previously married to Jacqueline Laats, with whom he had a son. They broke up in 1995. Later Van der Gijp had another son, with his then partner Daniëlle Sijthoff. She died in 2016 at the age of 46.
Van der Gijp played football for the Dutch national team from 1982 to 1987. He later made a career in the media, as a football analyst in the program Soccer Inside (nowadays Veronica Inside).
