Renders leak cheaper Samsung Galaxy S20 ‘Fan Edition’

The Samsung Galaxy S20 is a very expensive device. But a more affordable ‘Fan Edition’ is coming if we are to believe the latest renders.

The renders of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition have been shared by the infamous smartphone clock Evan Blass through his Twitter page, but are also on the website of XDA Developers appeared. In recent months we have also seen Sammobile, Ice Universe, The Elec and Pricebaba this weekend. It is rumored to be a cheaper release of Samsung’s first flagship of 2020.

In terms of design, the Fan Edition looks almost the same as the regular Galaxy S20. That means the selfie camera (which will presumably include a 32MP lens) is again in a hole in the screen. Not everyone is a fan of this style choice, but there are tricks to hide the camera hole. The rear camera island houses a 12MP wide-angle lens, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

The screen is said to be 6.4 ”in size between that of the S20 and S20 Ultra, and has a refresh rate of 120Hz. The processor that should run the smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and the battery is said to be one of 865 mAh.

S10 Lite

Samsung launched the S20 and S20 Ultra back in February. Since then, there have always been rumors that the South Korean smartphone manufacturer would sooner or later come up with a cheaper release. It did that for the Galaxy S10, which got a S10 Lite at the end of last year. Why the renders speak of an S20 Fan Edition and not ‘S20 Lite’ is a nod to the unfortunate Note 7 Fan Edition. That was a cheaper edition of the Note 7 that Samsung wanted to launch in 2017. They soon had to take the device off the shelves because the cheaper battery could overheat and even cause a fire while charging.

Samsung has yet to confirm the launch of a cheaper Galaxy S20 itself. The South Korean website The Elec believes he knows that the smartphone would appear in October for a price of 900,000 won, or 636.25 euros. The regular Galaxy S20 costs new out of the box 769 euros.
