Trump campaign removes ad that would violate NASA advertising rules

The video featured astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley before they took off for the ISS, as well as members of their families.

Donald Trump’s campaign for his re-election in November has removed this June 4 from YouTube, Facebook and Twitter an advertising video that showed, among others, astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley.

In accordance with Bloomberg, the decision is because the images violate the advertising rules from NASA, which prohibit using the name or image of any active astronaut in advertising or ‘marketing’ materials.

In addition to scenes from Behnken and Hurley before takeoff from the first private manned mission in history, SpaceX’s Crew Dragon, the video featured several of his relatives, as well as the nasa logo.

The retired astronaut from NASA Karen Nyberg, Hurley’s wife, through her Twitter account expressed his outrage with the video, claiming that he had not given his consent to be part of it.

I find it disturbing that a video image of me and my son is being used in political propaganda without my knowledge

“That is wrong”, wrote Nyberg, labeling the American space agency and its boss, Jim Bridenstine.

Trump campaign office did not respond to a request for comment Bloomberg to clarify the reason why the video was removed from these platforms, while NASA confirmed that it did not know anything about the announcement before it was released on Wednesday.
