Relay of Nganjuk Regent’s Bribery Case from KPK to Bareskrim Polri

Jakarta

A case of suspected bribery Regent Nganjuk Novi Rahman Hidayat is no longer handled by the KPK. The anti-corruption agency handed over the baton to the Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

This case surfaced when Regent Nganjuk was arrested in East Java for alleged bribery for buying and selling positions. In this arrest, hundreds of millions of Rupiah were also confiscated.

After the arrest, it was revealed that this case was not only investigated by the KPK but also by the Directorate of Corruption Crime (Dirtipikor), Bareskrim Polri. The investigation has been ongoing since April 2021.

Deputy Chairman of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar, said that the KPK received reports of receiving gifts or promises related to filling positions in village and sub-district officials in the Nganjuk Regency Government since the end of March 2021. The public complaints team (Dumas) then followed up on the report.

“When the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) coordination and supervision unit coordinated with the National Police Criminal Investigation Dirtipikor, information was also obtained that the Police Criminal Investigation Unit also received the same complaints from the public regarding this matter,” said Lili at a press conference at the KPK building, Monday (10/5/2021)

“To avoid overlapping public reports, the KPK coordinated with the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit 4 times and agreed that cooperation would be carried out to follow up on the intended public reports,” he continued.

In the end, the KPK and Polri reached an agreement. The alleged bribery for the sale and purchase of the position of Nganjuk Regent was continued by the Dirtipikor, Bareskrim Polri.

“The settlement of the handling of this case will be carried out by the Dirtipikor, Bareskrim, Police Headquarters,” said Lili.

The press conference was not only attended by the KPK. From the National Police, the Head of Criminal Investigation of the Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, was present. In line with Lili, he also explained the beginning of the similarities in the investigation of this case between the KPK and the Police.
