Before the summer, the Consultation Committee laid down a number of relaxation of the corona measures in a ‘summer plan’ with four phases. The third phase of this will come into effect on Friday. The conditions – at least 70 percent of adult Belgians vaccinated at least once and fewer than 500 corona patients in intensive care units – have been amply met.
This means that a number of measures will be released from Friday. For example, there are no longer any restrictions on the maximum number of customers in stores and shopping centers. Mandatory access control in the larger stores and shopping centers is also being overhauled.
In addition, things change for events such as culture, performances or sports competitions. Inside, they can continue with 3,000 people, or 100 percent of the room capacity if fewer people can enter. That still has to be done with a mouth mask and at a safe distance from each other. Outside, 5,000 people are allowed to attend an event again. From August 13, outdoor mass events will also be allowed again, provided that visitors with the Covid Safe Ticket can demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated, have taken a negative corona test less than 48 hours ago or have recently been infected with the virus and recovered. are.
Also trade fairs can continue. Parties and receptions, as with marriages, up to 250 people are allowed to enter again. The latter follow the rules that also apply to the catering industry.
Finally, can youth activities and camps take place with a maximum of 200 people with overnight stay. Pre-testing for covid-19 is highly recommended.
Fourth phase
If all goes well, the fourth phase of the summer plan will come into effect from September 1. The condition was that at least 70 percent of adults would be fully vaccinated by then. In the meantime, a month earlier, that cape has already been rounded.
