Relatives of San Antonio port operator file criminal complaint – Quilpué Online

Worker died by immersion, after falling into the sea after being hit by a bulk canvas in full operation, on November 30.

Relatives of Rodrigo Flores Álvarez, a worker who died while working at the San Antonio Port, filed a criminal complaint against those who are responsible for the crime of homicide.

According to the facts presented, on November 30, the operator was carrying out unloading work in the dock sector with a motor ship, which is held in concession by the company DP World Chile. For reasons that are being investigated, he fell into the sea when he was carrying out the task at a time when, apparently, he was hit by a bulk unloading canvas that was untied, added to the strong prevailing wind, impacting the operator causing an imbalance, rushing into the sea.

The body was found by his own companions 40 minutes later, under the dock, confirming the absence of a basic element such as a life jacket.

For the lawyer Felipe Olea, who sponsors said case, he considers “a non-fortuitous event given that the company did not provide the minimum security implements to the operator, even more so given that this official had health and care problems,” said the lawyer. , who also was surprised because “to date no official information has been delivered from DP WORLD regarding how the family members fell into the sea.”

With this legal action presented before the San Antonio Guarantee Court, the relatives of Flores Álvarez hope to clarify the circumstances of his death and ultimately, that those responsible for it will be sentenced.
