Reims achieved its first victory at Lille Stadium since 2014 after defeating them 2-1, on Tuesday, at the end of the seventh stage of the French Football League, thus climbing to fifth place.
Reigns secured its third victory of the season and its tenth point after only about a quarter of an hour after the start by taking the lead with goals from newcomers Danish Mohamed Darami (12) and Japanese Keito Nakamura (16), before Lille reduced the gap late through Benjamin Andre (79).
This is Lille’s second defeat in seven matches, and the first at home against Reims (1-2) since January 12, 2014, leaving Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca’s team with 8 points in eleventh place, while Reims is now fifth with its ten points and goal difference against Strasbourg, the winner on Sunday. Beating Metz 1-0, and three points ahead of leaders Brest, who beat Lyon 1-0 on Friday.
