Because storm damage in rail traffic still has to be repaired, there are cancellations and delays in Lower Saxony. Trains are also diverted, the metronome fails.
After the severe winter storms of the past few days, rail traffic in Lower Saxony is only slowly getting going again. There are still individual route closures, said a spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn (DB) on Monday in Hamburg.
For example, work teams are working on the Hamburg – Hanover railway line, which was particularly badly damaged by the storms, to repair overhead lines. In the direction of Hanover, trains are currently being diverted there, but northbound trains on the route are already back on the regular timetable, it said. Previously, the railway had announced that in Uelzen alone, the overhead line construction had to be completely rebuilt over a length of 600 meters after storm damage.
Hanover/Hamburg: Regional traffic still affected
According to Deutsche Bahn, travelers must expect severe impairments until at least Monday afternoon. Trains are sometimes delayed. There are therefore restrictions on regional traffic on line S5 between Hameln and Altenbeken (NRW) and on regional train 77 between Hildesheim and Elze.
On other routes, such as between Norddeich Mole and Oldenburg, traffic was resumed after repairs, said the railway spokeswoman. On the Emsland route near Lingen, this should take place during Monday. According to Bahn, there are currently no long-distance trains running between Norddeich Mole and Cologne.
The private railway company Metronom announced on Monday morning that the trains from Metronom, Enno and Erixx are still not running. The routes are expected to remain closed until Monday afternoon. A replacement bus service has been set up.
