The Red Flames will play in the qualifiers for the 2025 European Championship against world champions Spain, Denmark and the Czech Republic. That is the result of the draw on Tuesday afternoon in Nyon, Switzerland.
Belgium was in pot three and was presented with a real winner with the 2023 world champion Spain. Denmark came from pot two, the Czech Republic from pot four.
The six group matches will be played between April and July. The top two of the four groups from the A division qualify directly for the final round in Switzerland. Numbers three and four still have a chance to win a ticket via the play-offs (end of 2024). The seven remaining places will be divided in a two-round competition with countries from the B and C divisions. Switzerland, as organizer, is directly qualified for the European Championship
Last month, the Flames secured their place in the A division of the Nations League thanks to a double victory against Hungary. That was important because the structure of the Nations League is maintained during the European Championship qualifiers. In the B division there are only jump-off places for the European Championships, no direct tickets.
The 2025 European Championship will take place from July 2 to 27. The draw for the group stage will take place on December 16. During the previous edition in 2022 in England, the Flames reached the quarter-finals for the first time. Home country England won the final against Germany.
