Recupel collects old electrical appliances from SMEs and organizations free of charge – Companies

Recupel is now responsible for collecting old electrical appliances free of charge from SMEs and organizations such as hospitals or schools, the non-profit organization in charge of the collection and sustainable treatment of used electrical and electrical appliances announced on Monday. It aims to prevent these devices from piling up or landing in the wrong waste stream.

According to the association, there was no simple and easily accessible system allowing small businesses and organizations to dispose of their old devices, while having the guarantee that they were well traced. “Sometimes there are too many to quickly dump in a container park and too few for them to be collected by a waste treatment company,” Recupel said in a statement.

Called “Pick-up”, the service offers a second life to collected devices through reuse or recycling. “You can be sure that they will be used for something useful. Your efforts make it possible to reduce a little the exploitation of primary raw materials to make new devices. A solution which therefore has a double advantage”, points out the CEO of Recupel, Eric Dewaet.

Companies and organizations can make a request on the website pickup.recupel.be. Recupel takes care of the logistical processing and offers the guarantee of compliance with the legislation relating to company waste. The service is above all intended for occasional collections, underlines the ASBL. Organizations that regularly dispose of devices can additionally register as a fixed collection point.

Recupel further specifies that the “Pick-up” service is intended for “domestic appliances” (telephones, electric kettles, refrigerators, computers, etc.). For professional electrical and electro installations and appliances, an appointment with a professional collector must be made.
