President Director of PT Pefindo Credit Bureau Yohanes Abhimanyu reveals several reasons bank did not pass the application credit or customer loans even though the customer’s track record is fairly good.
First, the nominal loan application requires collateral, but the bank sees that the value of the collateral required is too large. Meanwhile, according to the bank, customers are considered not to have collateral capacity of the required value.
“If the bank sees that the collateral (owned by the customer) is not sufficient to cover the required credit and collateral, this could be one of the reasons the credit cannot be approved,” he said in a virtual talk with the media, Thursday (21/10).
Second, the customer has never applied for credit to a bank. From a track record, he may not have a record of arrears in installments or bad credit. However, this makes banks also do not have knowledge about customer risk profiles.
“If there is no credit score, the bank may need time to look at the debtor’s profile. The bank needs more time to ask what character this person is, whether he pays diligently or not, checks first with his place of work, neighbors, and others. the credit scoring already exists, it is valid, it could be easier,” he explained.
Third, banks deliberately withhold aggressive lending to customers. According to the Director of Pefindo, the Credit Bureau, Wahyu Trenggono, this reason arose especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is because the risk increases, so banks must be more careful in extending credit to customers.
“With the current economic conditions, the ability to pay customers, and others, banks are somewhat restrained from aggressively disbursing credit even though there may not be a problem in their credit scoring, they are selective, this could be the reason why the record is good, but it is still rejected,” said Revelation.
