Andrea Dovizioso always chooses his words with care and doesn’t really make big sayings. In the past few weeks he has skilfully blocked every question about his – still unexplained – sporting future and preferred to devote himself to the objective analysis of training and racing events.
When asked about his mood in Brno, the 34-year-old Italian let it be known that the obvious problems on the track (18th place in qualifying, 11th place in the race) and the tough negotiations with Ducati did not leave him unaffected . “Morality is down,” assured “Dovi”, but at the same time he also confessed: “I experience new, special situations. But I have experience and learned – or at least I try to attach importance to what is important to me – and not to everything that happens. Otherwise you would always be too restricted. Because nobody manages to satisfy everyone – on a sporting and personal level. I don’t intend to bring them all down to one common denominator. Because in my life I have understood that it is not possible. I try to focus on what I need to focus on because it’s better for me. If you paid attention to all the details that were happening, you wouldn’t really experience things in a nice way – in all aspects of life, not just in MotoGP, ”he added with a smile.
The MotoGP runner-up in the past three years also confessed: “It is clear that everything has a little effect. We are human beings. But we need to pay attention to what we can influence and move on. Because to complain about what would sometimes be closest because you say to yourself: ‘Really now?’, That leads nowhere. “
As is well known, those responsible from Borgo Panigale had decided to wait for the first five Grand Prix of the shortened Corona season before the second place in the Ducati factory team (next to Jack Miller) for 2021 is occupied. The plan was for Dovi to fight for victories on the Ducati-friendly circuits in Brno and Spielberg – and thereby simplify the decision-making process for both sides.

So let’s try to understand something. The race in Brno took place under different conditions and from my point of view we can confirm some things. I hope so, but I don’t know, these are all just deliberations. Unfortunately, I can’t give all the answers because I don’t have them yet. “
The runner-up world champion and his Ducati crew want to use the few days before the first Grand Prix in Austria to draw the right conclusions: “We have tried many things, almost too many, but we don’t understand what is happening. And most importantly, the feedback is not what we would expect. We’ve tried things that have produced results in the past three years – and we’ve had great World Cup seasons. All of those things didn’t work at all now. If we look at the set-up variants that Zarco and Pecco used in the two races, they are pretty much the opposite of our experience. But maybe it’s the right direction? I dont know. Maybe I, Jack and Danilo are having more trouble trying things that relate to the good results from the past three years? I dont know.”
“These are all considerations. I’m not the type of guy who makes excuses. But we don’t understand, we’re not fast and we don’t use the braking phase to our advantage – and if we don’t do that, we can’t be fast. So we’re trying to read something out of the three days in Brno.
