Luka Modric continues after this season Real Madrid. The 35-year-old Croat, winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2018, has reached an agreement in principle with the Royal Dutch about a new contract until mid-2022, Marca and AS report on Sunday.
When his new contract ends, Modric has played exactly ten seasons for Real Madrid. The Spanish superpower took him over from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012. He celebrated great successes at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. For example, Real won the Champions League four times and twice the First division.
Modric is again a mainstay in the team of coach Zinedine Zidane this season, who, among other things, prefers the veteran over Martin Odegaard. He only missed one game in La Liga this season. In addition, the midfielder is praised for his leadership qualities and his experience.
According to Brand Modric was willing to give up salary because of the corona pandemic. He will therefore earn less as soon as he signs the new contract.
