Tonight, Real Madrid faced Club América in their second warm-up match. Here are our editorial reviews.
The game
A sluggish start to the match from Real which was severely moved during the first quarter of an hour. A domination achieved by Club América very early in the match. Except that, as an air of deja vu, it was without counting on Karim Benzema to revive the Merengue machine. The first period was however quite average for Real with little pace and intensity.
On returning from the locker room, you had to get your neck wet before following this second half at the antipodes of the first. Carlo Ancelotti brought in the youngsters in the middle who energized the meeting with a Camavinga and Ceballos duo in charge. Real found the opening from the penalty spot before finally being taken back in the same way at the end of the game. Second act of Real pleasant all the same.
Individual performance
The moon : He concedes the first end almost at close range and can not do much. He then made a nice double penalty save before finally being caught because he had advanced too far. He touches it on the second attempt but his hand is not firm enough to repel the shot. He played 90 minutes.
Lucas Vazquez : The adversity was less than against Barça but the Spaniard was hardly more convincing, especially in the first half. In difficulty defensively and a little better in the second when he played more in the opposite camp.
Nacho : Serious and clean overall but also imperfect on some interventions. Sometimes a little late, clearance in the axis.
Rudiger : The goal of Club América is a bit for his apple. He shows too much passivity after a deflected shot which does not allow him to come back on the attacker. Note the fact that he was dangerous on two set pieces from Real, this will be a significant new weapon.
Mendy : In his usual standards, he played a solid match defensively and suitable for recovery but not very enterprising when it came to playing in the opposing camp.
Vinicius Tobias : He played 25 minutes and it will be difficult to really assess him on that. A good action to his credit at the end of the match with a good dribble – transverse sequence then he was fooled by the player from America who came to seek the penalty in his area.
Vallejo : As at the end of the season or against Barça, the Spaniard enters seriously into his meeting. It’s clean and that explains why the club is not against the idea of keeping him in the workforce.
David Alaba : He played on the left today throughout the second period and yes, this player in this position will be able to bring something more to Real Madrid against low blocks. He missed the last gesture but he showed great activity.
casemiro : Totally inside on his halftime. Few good passes, often late in duels.
Modric : The Croatian was also quite inside it must be said. Very uninspired, too slow and imprecise.
Kroos : The best of the three if one had to be singled out.
Tchouaméni : Better, but still imperfect. The Frenchman continues to make his mark in his new team. He was good at recovery as against Barça, but there is still too much waste in his game. Note a good shot from 20-25 meters pushed back by the goalkeeper.
camavinga : Loud, very loud. In the continuity of his half-time against Barça, Eduardo Camavinga radiated last night. He is clearly ready for the new season and he should apply for a place in the XI for the Supercopa.
Ceballos : Carlo gave him more time than last Sunday to express himself and, once again, the Spaniard seized the opportunity. He was the best in the second act with Camavinga, a player with whom he likes to play and it shows. Real may have a good pair but we will have to keep Ceballos for that.
Valverde : Decent performance from the Uruguayan, not much to highlight.
Rodrygo : He was back on his left side against America. The Brazilian combined well with his midfielders, with Hazard too, but he was not successful in the final move.
Hazard : Again lined up at the forefront of the attack, Eden had a very good first quarter of an hour until this converted penalty. We had a little more trouble finding him then, but it’s all good for his confidence.
Benzema : He played a half as expected. The start was difficult and then… the Frenchman scored his first goal of the season on an action that he created on his own. He’s already set the sights…
vinicius : Complicated match for the Madrid player.
Asensio : Same as for Vinicius on the left side, the Spaniard was not flamboyant.
