Luan Candido has developed into big negative business for RB Leipzig. The fee is only a fraction of its original purchase value.
On New Year’s Eve, the Red Bulls announced that Luan Candido would not return to the Saxons. The defender was signed by Palmeiras for an impressive eight million euros in 2019, but was loaned to sister club RB Bragantino after only half a year – and without commitment for the professionals.
At the turn of the year, Bragantino signed the 20-year-old firmly. According to the image Leipzig receives only 1.5 million euros in compensation for the talent; and thus not even a quarter of the purchase price. Certainly one of the worst deals Ralf Rangnick has made at RB.
From Leipzig’s point of view, we can only hope that Caden Clark will do better at the runner-up. For the time being, however, the youngster will not move to the trade fair city: The 18-year-old, who was signed by the New York Red Bulls last summer and then parked in the Big Apple, is supposed to stay in the USA for the time being.
