Ravenel case: “Mrs. Ravenel really thought that her husband was a danger to her” – Vaud & Régions

UDC President of the Grand Council, Yves Ravenel, was found guilty of “qualified threats” for having broken lamps in 2019 outside his wife’s house and for “attempting qualified threats” for having uttered a death threat to her in 2016, specifies her lawyer, Me Mireille Loroch. She reacts to the remarks made by his colleague Alain Thévenaz, defender of the president.

During the first episode, in September 2016, Yves Ravenel told his wife that he would kill her if she maintained her financial claims in the divorce proceedings. “At the time, she did not feel scared, which is why the prosecutor stopped the attempt,” said Mireille Loroch. “Then, during the second event, in January 2019, she saw Mr. Ravenel come out of his hinges, violently break lamps and wall lights from the terrace at her house with a broom while she was a meter from him and then throw the broom in his direction, so much so that the broom has landed in the kitchen, and not outside as he claims, ”explains the lawyer.

“Mrs. Ravenel was really scared”

On the Yves Ravenel agricultural estate, the two apartments are close to a few meters. He left the villa to his wife in 2014, after their separation. Mireille Loroch reminds that it is for the facts of January 20, that Yves Ravenel is found guilty of “qualified threats” by the prosecutor. “Mrs. Ravenel was really scared, she really thought that her husband was a danger to her.”

The lawyer is formal: “At no time did she want to publicize this affair. “We knew that a hearing was to take place on January 23 and my client was preparing for this trial with confidence and also with the apprehension that any such judicial deadline could cause.”

Decision on his future next Tuesday

Recall that Monday, the hearing was canceled after being announced to the media in the regular program of the District Court of La Côte. Meanwhile, Yves Ravenel withdrew his opposition, which prompted the entry into force of the conviction order issued in August by prosecutor Marjorie Moret. The lawyer for the president of the Grand Council indicated that his client did not recognize the death threat and threw the broom at his future ex-wife.

Yves Ravenel is like that sentenced to 60 days fine to 80 francs, suspended sentence of 2 years, and a fine of 960 francs. He must also pay 3,000 francs in fees.
