Here is a surprise “Croze”… In post as coach of Montluçon Football (Allier) in National 3 for only this season, Fabien Croze (62) will stop at the end of the current financial year. He confirmed it to us this Thursday, May 19, after having informed his hierarchy and his players over the past few days.
Coach’s explanations
“The leaders told me they wanted to reduce the budget of the first team next season and stop the apprenticeship contracts which allowed us to recruit young people at lower costs”, he points out in the preamble.
“It’s a new project that is beginning. I hear it and I can understand it but I do not adhere to it, so I prefer not to renew my contract. »

It must be said that the new management, effective since the end of January around President Fabrice Loisy, is not the one, led by former President François Brochet, who had brought Fabien Croze to Allier in the summer of 2021. “What I am being offered now no longer falls within the project initially mentioned with Mr. Brochet”, confirms the coach.
“If it’s to have a team that’s less competitive than this season, that’s not what I want.” Disappointed ? “No because it’s a choice of club, but there is a taste of unfinished business. I had come for a project which unfortunately ends after a year”. Passed before that by Saint-Quentin (N2, 2017-2022) but also Vierzon (N2) or Châtellerault (N3), the sexagenarian claims however to have “always want to train”.

The president’s response
Contacted, the president of MF Fabrice Loisy justified his departure. “It’s Fabien’s decision,” he assures us. “Yes, the first team’s budget will drop next season, but you have to understand that the club cannot live beyond its means and that we must above all think about sustaining it”. And now ?
“We will make sure to quickly find a successor. We already have some contacts. And then our goal will be to keep the current workforce as much as possible. »

another start
Finally, it should be noted that the former player and current manager Michaël Ribérol, in particular assistant to Fabien Croze on the bench in N3 and who had been present in Montluçon since 2001, will also leave the club. “I don’t find myself in the vision of the new management team either, so I prefer to leave,” he explains simply.
End of season
There are three games left to play in the National 3 championship for Montluçon Foot. The next one will take place this Saturday, May 21 at Lyon-Duchère (B). Currently 8th out of 12 in the classification of its group, the MF is on the right track to validate its maintenance in N3, but it still lacks a victory to be really sure of it.
