Recently, Apacer General Manager Zhang Jiaxun, expressed his opinion. He stated that the supply of DRAM and NAND memory chips is currently very stable and is greater than the market demand, according to him, this situation will not change in a short time, at least until the first half of next year.
As an industry insider, Zhang Jiaxun’s words naturally have a certain degree of credibility.
This also means that the price of memory and SSD products will continue to decline and, more importantly, the current life cycle of DDR4 memory is coming to an end. The Solid State Technology Association, JEDEC, released the next DDR5 SDRAM memory standard on July 15 this year. Samsung and other DRAM memory chip makers plan to start producing DDR5 memory in 2021, and the two CPU makers Intel and AMD also clearly stated that the DDR5 memory platform is coming soon.
On the other hand, as the price of flash memory chips continues to fall, along with the development of 96-layer technology and QLC technology, it is foreseeable that the price of SSDs will accelerate its decline. In the future, more and more gamers will start to consider solutions by SSD, without HDD.
