Of Ram 1500 is booming in US sales statistics. 2019 was the most successful year ever for the popular pick-up, with a total of 730,000 units sold (US and Canada). As fast as they fly out of the showroom, that’s how fast this newest monster, the 1500 TRX, flies off when you kick it on its tail. From a standstill, 60 mph (96 km / h) is on the counter in just 4.5 seconds. This is largely due to the 6.2-liter V8 with supercharger in the imposing nose. Yes, the same Hemi V8 that Fiat Chrysler spooned into the Dodge Challenger Hellcat and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, among others.

Now Ram may also use the 711 hp and 881 Nm strong muscle bundle in this case. The 1500 was already available with a 5.7-liter V8, but it produced ‘only’ 395 hp. That could of course be better! The forces go to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, so you can bet that the Ram 1500 TRX will be off with the northern sun in no time on all types of terrain. The colossus only lasts up to a mere 190 km / h, but you have the greatest fun with such a car at much lower speeds.

Do not think that it is a regular 1500 with a thicker engine, because of course the appearance betrays all that is going on here. The 1500 TRX is higher on its wheels, is dressed all around with extra plastic and metal accents to repel rocks and dirt from it, has a huge ‘power dome’ in its hood and the modified black grille also gives the pick-up an extra imposing appearance. Thanks in part to springs and Bilstein dampers specially developed for this car, the TRX stands 28 centimeters above the ground and around the 18-inch wheels are extra robust off-road tires, which were developed by Goodyear especially for the TRX. Behind the front wheels there are disc brakes with a diameter of no less than 38.1 centimeters to bring the absurdly fast colossus to an acceptable halt.
Baja
The 1500 TRX must be more than a pick-up with which you can tear hard in a straight line through an arid plain. The Ram has a whole range of driving modes, including the new ‘Baja mode’. With Baja mode, like the Baja rally, you have to be able to drive at very high speed over desert-like rugged terrain and then also be able to steer. It can all be controlled via the vertical 12-inch screen in the dashboard of the 1500.
The Aries will cost $ 60,273 in the US, but it remains a far-from-our-bed show here. Unfortunately?
