Rajeh Daoud’s “Secret Secret” Crisis Ushers in Solidarity Among Musicians

Cairo – “Al-Quds Al-Arabi”: Since the start of the Egyptian TV series show in the current Ramadan season, crises have been successive, including the crisis that the series “Sarah Al-Bati’” was subjected to, directed by Khaled Youssef, where musician Rajeh Daoud published a statement confirming that he is not responsible for the music. The soundtrack that the director put on some scenes, by other musicians, despite putting his name on the series as the author of the soundtrack.
Director Khaled Youssef responded to this statement by posting a video through his official account on the social networking site “Facebook”, in which he said: “It is more likely that attributing music to him is a crime, and he did not describe what I did as a crime, because this is my right as a director to work in putting music that suits the scene from his point of view. theoretical”.
And he added, “Rageh Daoud gave me the music for the series a few days before the start of Ramadan, and when I started putting the music on the episodes, it was not enough, and I put all the music that Rageh composed for the series, but there were scenes that I did not find suitable music for, such as the scene of Napoleon’s entry, and when I asked Most likely about the reason, he said that he would not be able to make music for 16 hours, because the series is not like the movie, and he told me that I gave you the music and used it as you wanted, so I had to use the music of my films, and I sought permission from its authors and they welcomed it, and I used others such as the French national anthem.
And a group of music writers, composers, and musicians in Egypt issued a statement declaring their solidarity with musician Rageh Daoud, in his crisis with director Khaled Youssef, about the soundtrack of the series “Sarah Al-Bataa.”
And the statement said, “We, the authors and composers of the soundtrack, announce our full solidarity with the great professor, musician, Dr. Rajeh Dawood, for what he was exposed to; Where his music was cut off, old musical works of his were reused, and strange music was inserted by other musicians, and attributed to him within the events of the series “Sarah Al-Bati’”, directed by Professor Khaled Youssef, which harms his name and reputation as a composer who has a wide reputation in the field of music for more than four decades. ».
And the statement continued: “We would also like to note that it has recently spread that some of those in charge of the drama and cinema industry have resorted to using musical pieces of unknown origin or excerpts from foreign works and placing them within those works, which harms the credibility of the name of the music composer contracting to compose a work dedicated to these works.
Therefore, we would like to clarify that the soundtrack is composed specifically for a specific dramatic work, whether a movie, series or play, and that it may not be used in any way outside the context of the original work for which it was composed, and any other misplaced use of the work is in violation of local and international intellectual property rights laws. It is also a violation of the origins and customs of the music and drama industry.”
We call on the respected gentlemen in charge of the drama industry of all kinds to work to establish the intellectual property rights of the creators of the soundtrack, and to work to provide a climate and production conditions suitable for the production of a music tape accompanying the artwork, as the soundtrack is an integral part of the elements of the artwork. It has artistic work to form his identity and to deliver his message.
The series “The Imam’s Message” was also subjected to a crisis, as the Syrian poet Hudhayfa al-Araji published a video on social media, in which he expressed his dissatisfaction with the series’ makers’ use of two verses of his poetry, attributing them to Imam al-Shafi’i.
And he said: “I start with God’s help and permission, and after consulting friends and those whose minds I trust from the people of literature and thought, I start moving in the work of an agency for the office of “Dar al-Qanun – Nasr City” represented by the lawyer, Professor Gamal Abdel Hamid, to file a “compensation lawsuit” for my moral and psychological rights. In the “Egyptian Economic Court”, against the makers of the series “The Imam’s Message”, and I entrusted the poet friend “Majid Maarouf” to follow up on the matter, and do what is necessary, hoping for success from God.
Al-Arji published the verses attributed to Imam Al-Shafi’i, which are:
And our world narrows, so we think that we are
We will die of despair or die of wailing
And if God’s kindness suddenly falls
He nurtures hearts from dry crumbs.”
And the pioneers of social networking sites shared a leaked video from the scenes of the series “X-Lance” starring the artist Mohamed Saad, and his voice appeared in the leaked video, and he was very angry, and uttered inappropriate words to the workers in the series, which caused a great uproar on social networking sites, and Mohamed Saad responded, and said. In press statements, this conversation was directed at the production team, not the director.
