According to KSP, Warsaw officials are continuing the case of insulting religious feelings and insulting Warsaw monuments, including the statue of Christ at the Holy Cross Basilica. “A third person was arrested for the case. Today, further actions are planned” – informed KSP.
It is likely that this third person will face similar charges. The detainees are two women and a man. So far, none of them have been released home. All people are at the police station
Previously, a spokesman for the Warsaw Police Headquarters Nadkom. Sylwester Marczak said that Warsaw policemen detained the first persons in connection with, as it was stated, the insulting of Warsaw monuments by hanging rainbow-colored flags on them. – They were placed in police custody. The activities are ongoing. The detention of the remaining ones is only a matter of time, the KSP spokesman informed yesterday.
Last week, on Tuesday night, rainbow flags and headscarves with a symbol referring to the anarchist movement were placed on Warsaw monuments. The manifesto published on the Internet shows that the action was aimed at combating homophobia.
“This is a storm. It’s a rainbow. It’s an attack! We decided to act. As long as they are afraid to hold your hand. Until the last homophobic van disappears from our streets. This is our manifestation of difference – this rainbow. So long, if the flag is going to scandalize someone and be “inappropriate”, we promise to provoke so long, “wrote a statement published on social media.
Last Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Justice Sebastian Kaleta submitted a notification of suspicion of committing a crime in connection with these events.
As previously reported by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, the prosecutor’s office initiated proceedings on offending religious feelings and insulting monuments by imposing rainbow flags and masks with an anarchist symbol on them last Thursday.
Rainbow flags and handkerchiefs with a symbol referring to the anarchist movement were attached, among others on the figure of Christ in front of St. Cross on Krakowskie Przedmieście. The police also received reports about events concerning the monuments of: Mikołaj Kopernik, Jan Kiliński, Wincenty Witos and the Warsaw Mermaid.
