Rafael Nadal will be out of action for six to eight weeks due to an injury

Spaniard Rafael Nadal will be absent for a period of six to eight weeks due to a muscle injury in the hip, according to what was announced Thursday in a tweet on Twitter. His absence may threaten his participation in the Indian Wells tournament (1000 points) and Miami next March, which negatively affects his points in the world rankings.

And the 36-year-old posted a tweet on his Twitter account, saying that the x-rays showed a moderate second-degree tear, with a “normal recovery time of six to eight weeks.”

His absence may threaten his participation in the Indian Wells tournament (1000 points) and Miami next March, which negatively affects his points in the world rankings.

Nadal will focus on returning in mid-April to participate in tournaments held on clay courts, ahead of the start of the French Open in May, where he will search for his fifteenth title.

It is noteworthy that the defending champion was eliminated in the second round of the Australian Open on Wednesday after losing to American Mackenzie McDonald, ranked 65, which is his worst result in a major tournament in seven years.

Nadal requested a medical time-out after dropping serve in the second set, likely after suffering some hip pain.

He later stated after the match that he was “mentally devastated” and admitted that at his age it was more difficult to deal not only with injuries but with the recovery period.

“I don’t know what could happen in the future. But I need to avoid again a long period of time outside (sport),” he said at the time. “Because if it’s not like that, it’s hard,” he added.
