Rachel Zoe says she was “scarred for life” after seeing her son Skyler fall 40 feet from a ski lift in a Colorado ski resort on Sunday, and says it was a “miracle he’s alive.”
The 49-year-old fashionista took to Instagram Monday to reveal that her oldest child, nine, had been taken to the emergency room after the terrible fall at Little Nell in Aspen.
The “shattered and numb” stylist shared the opportunity to “remind everyone how fragile life is and how it can turn in a minute”.
While Zoe initially didn’t say where the incident took place in her post, she previously posted a look out of an airplane window that was highlighted from Colorado. The fashionista was pictured with her family in Aspen the Saturday before the incident.
While holding back on the details, Zoe praised her young son’s resilience: “The result is that Sky is fine and the bravest boy I have ever known.
But [Ehemann Rodger Berman] and I am shocked and numb, but woke up today with gratitude for a miracle that Sky is safe and in order. ‘
A few hours later, she told the followers about the harrowing incident: “Sky fell 40 feet off a ski lift yesterday, which could easily have been prevented if the driver had stopped the lift when he saw that Sky was off from the start and @rbermanus yells to stop the elevator. ‘
“Needless to say, by some miracle and the heroes of the ski patrol, who quickly put a mat under it where they thought he was going to fall, ultimately saved his life or what could have happened.”
‘Sky is in the best of spirits, but sore and a bit wacky, but otherwise a brave champion. Mom and Dad have lifelong scars, but that’s what Sky wanted to say, “she said before sharing a video of a happy but sore Skyler walking around her hotel room.
‘Hello everybody. I’m fine, just sore, ”he said to the people in the clip.
“To show you that I’m fine, I’ll get up – see, I can get up – and I can go. See, I’m totally fine, I’m just a little sore and it kind of hurts, but I’m fine. ‘
Zoe finished with another text, saying how “thankful” she and her husband Rodger were to see their son do “the simplest chores of walking, talking, and laughing.”
“To be honest, Sky was braver than any of us and we just keep kissing, hugging and staring at him until further notice … give your babies a special hug from us today.”
Zoe and Berman have been married since 1998, but didn’t start their family until years later, welcoming Skyler in 2011 and Kaius in 2013.
The fashionista shared a video preparing to celebrate Kaius’ birthday, and then shared a hilarious clip of herself building a gingerbread house using ski resort material that Skyler fell into.
