Queue of the Athlete’s House Snagged Last Night, Patients Passed 5,453

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Coordinator of Public Relations for the Covid-19 Emergency Hospital (RSD) Athlete’s House Marine Lt. Col. M. Arifin confirmed the conditions queue citizens are exposed corona virus (Covid-19) snaking at the Kemayoran Athlete House Monday (14/6) night.

Arifin said the queues occurred because the increase in Wisma Atlet patients could reach hundreds of people per day. Data as of Tuesday (15/6) at 08.00 WIB also noted that there were 398 new Covid-19 patients. So, now Towers 4,5,6, and 7 of Wisma Atlet have been filled with 5,453 patients consisting of 2,685 male patients and 2,768 female patients.

“Indeed, there was a queue last night, as the video circulated on social media. Yes, this is indeed the current condition,” Arifin said when contacted by CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (15/6).

Arifin said that if the number of patients being treated at the Wisma Atlet Hospital would increase as was the case in January 2021, then his party would also reopen Tower 8 of Wisma Atlet Pademangan to treat COVID-19 patients.

He continued that the occupancy condition of Wisma Atlet had been stagnant since March-May with around 1,000 patients being treated. However, 3-4 weeks after Eid, an increase in cases began to reach a cumulative 5,453 cases today.

“This has been added to the capacity of the room, now the Wisma Athlete has the yellow light going to red, stay alert,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a video circulating on social media, dozens of people were seen lining up at the Wisma Atlet registration counter. One of those who uploaded the video was singer Tompi on his personal Twitter account.

“Receiving the video distribution of the Wisma Atlet IGD last night… very worrying. Stay safe everyone. PROCESSES STRENGTHEN!,” tweeted Tompi.

In the 10-second video, residents with various age groups from children to the elderly (elderly) sit on the floor. To that end, Tompi also advised the public to continue to comply with health protocols, namely wearing masks, because it is now relatively difficult to find treatment rooms in a number of hospitals in the capital.
