Queen Sonja: – – Not by chance

On Thursday, it is marked that it is 10 years since the terror hit Norway, the government quarter and Utøya. It has become marked with national memorials across the country – also in Oslo.

Early Thursday morning was Crown Prince Haakon (48) and Crown Princess Mette-Marit (47) to see during a memorial service in front of the government quarter, before the king (84) and queen (84) were later to be seen in Oslo Cathedral for worship.

On a day like this, the vast majority of those present have chosen to dress in dark colors – but that was not the case for Queen Sonja.

White from head to toe

It was a white-clad queen Sonja who appeared in Oslo Cathedral on Thursday morning.

Wearing a white hat, blazer, dress and heels, she stood out in the crowd. On the other hand, it was hardly coincidental, says See and Hear royal house expert Caroline Vagle.

– Queen Sonja leaves nothing to chance, and I am absolutely sure that there is a thought behind her white outfit, says Vagle to Dagbladet, and continues:

– White often represents the good, as opposed to the evil and the dark. Maybe that’s what she wants to symbolize, she says.

Queen Sonja has repeatedly impressed with her clothing choices. When she visited Jordan with the king last year, she stayed praised for his outfit.

Dagbladet has been in contact with communications manager at Slottet Guri Varpe, who has no comment on the queen’s outfit.

Deeply affected

The royal family has since July 22, 2011 shown that they are strongly affected by the tragedy that befell. Most people probably remember the pictures of a weeping royal family, who followed the rose procession after the terror.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, several members of the royal family also have took the time to meet AUF members, who had to run for his life on a rainy Friday.

Therefore, it was perhaps not surprising that it was a deeply affected royal family who showed up on Thursday, both at the memorial service in front of the government quarter and the memorial service in the cathedral.

When AUF members from all over the country read out the names of the 77 victims during the first-mentioned celebration, it could be seen that the Crown Princess held a good grip on the Crown Prince’s hand.

There was also an affected royal couple who met in the cathedral.

Queen Sonja was observed several times with her eyes closed, and the king was clearly moved by what was happening.
