Queen spends a lot of time in the music studio together with new lead singer Adam Lambert, Brian May tells Guitar Player. Whether that will lead to a new album is still very uncertain, according to the guitarist.
“Adam, Roger (Taylor, drummer, ed.) And I tried out some things in the studio,” says May. “But so far we don’t have the feeling that there is anything that is really good.”
The idea of a new album does not exclude the band. “But that is not the case yet.”
The situation surrounding the corona virus does not make it any easier, according to May. “Life has gone in a direction where it is very difficult to investigate something like this. Maybe this will change, but as it looks now that is not going to happen in the short term.”
The last album to be released by Queen was The Cosmos Rocks in 2008. On this the band could be heard with singer Paul Rodgers. After the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1991, Queen hardly released any new music.
Lambert, who broke through at American Idol and was on stage with the band for the first time during this program, joined Queen more and more since 2011. In 2014 he went on tour with the band members for the first time. The singer and Queen have not released any new music together so far.
