Queen Camilla Launches Podcast ‘The Reading Room’ to Promote Literature – Premieres January 8, 2024

Queen Camilla follows in Meghan Markle’s footsteps and joins the podcast trend. The British consort will debut a space dedicated to literature with her own project: “The Reading Room.”

Spotify: Harry and Meghan’s podcast, one of the couple’s biggest business deals, will not have a second season

This is an initiative of the charity organization The Queen’s Reading Room, chaired by the wife of King Charles III and which seeks to promote the love of reading among people of all ages and backgrounds, says the Daily Mail.

When does Queen Camila’s podcast premiere?

The first episode of the project will premiere on January 8, 2024 and will feature the participation of writer Ian Rankin, actress Dame Joanna Lumley, comedian David Baddiel and American novelist Ann Patchett, the British newspaper mentions.

In each episode of the podcast, which will be broadcast weekly, the queen will talk with special guests about her favorite books, her reference authors and her reading experiences.

The podcast will be available on all digital platforms, such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and will last approximately 30 minutes.

In addition, it will feature the participation of Vicki Perrin, general director of The Queen’s Reading Room and co-host with Camila.

The monarch has been passionate about reading since childhood and has promoted numerous projects to promote this habit among the public. With her podcast, she hopes to share her passion with millions of listeners and encourage them to discover new books and authors.

Additionally, this project could overshadow Meghan Markle’s podcast ‘Archetypes’, which did not have the expected success.

After stepping down from their duties as members of the royal family, Meghan and Prince Harry signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Spotify, estimated to be worth around $20 million.

However, the platform announced the cancellation of the podcast in its first season. Then arose the controversy generated by the accusations that the duchess simulated her interviews for the project that only had 12 episodes.

Queen Camilla, for now, hopes that her project does not suffer the same fate as Meghan Markle’s. (AND)
