Processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 which was originally used for flagship Android phones in 2021, is less powerful than the proprietary processor Apple. In the GeekBench 5 test conducted by Qualcomm, the scores of the A13 Bionic and A14 Bionic processors were still above the Snapdragon 888.
The Snapdragon 888 chip gets a single-core score of 1,135 and a multi-core score of 3,794. The iPhone 12 Pro, which is powered by Apple’s A14 chip, got 1,603 in single-core testing and 4,187 in multi-core testing.
The A13 chip-powered iPhone 11 Pro scored 1,331 in single-core testing and 3,366 in multi-core testing.
Launch 9to5mac, Snapdragon 888 was actually able to outperform A13 in multi-core testing. However, that advantage was not that significant.
As for the benchmark results from graphics testing using GFXBench, the Snapdragon 888 recorded 86 frames per second, which places it behind the iPhone SE, iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 series.
The sustainable performance of the Snapdragon 888 is not yet known and will depend on the power consumption of the chip. However, the Snapdragon 888 is predicted to be superior to the iPhone if the power consumption is competitive.
Launch Mac RumorsAlthough the Snapdragon 888 chip does not outperform Apple’s A13 or A14 chip, however, the new Qualcomm chip presents a significant improvement over the previous generation Snapdragon chips used in today’s flagship Android smartphones.
Snapdragon 888 CPU performance is up 25 percent and GPU performance is up 35 percent.
As these benchmarks are provided by Qualcomm and are not obtained independently, it is on all sides that the Snapdragon 888 scores are accurate.
