Puerto Rico reaches 2,031 positive cases and 102 deaths from COVID-19

After 54 days of curfew, Puerto Rico reached 2,031 cases this Thursday due to COVID-19, while deaths from the disease increased to 102, reported the Health Department.

This translates into 63 infected patients and three additional deaths compared to the latest data reported by the agency yesterday.

According to Salud, the deaths were reported through the Demographic Registry because the clinical picture of the victims was compatible with the symptoms of the virus at the time of their death.

“The fatalities correspond to two women, 84 and 93 years old, from the Ponce and Mayagüez regions, respectively. The third reported death is from a 45-year-old man from the Bayamón region“the agency detailed in a press release.

Health did not report since Monday the deaths certified by coronavirus through the Demographic Registry due to a breakdown in the information systems. The new day reported yesterday that during the two days that the entity was without access to its platforms, it received a total of 190 death certificates, among which are the three cases that were announced today related to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Of the 63 new cases, seven were processed through molecular tests and 56 through serological tests.. Meanwhile, the total of 2,031 confirmed cases is broken down into 1,013 that have been obtained from molecular tests and 1,018 from serological tests.

The universal number of unique positive cases is divided into 1,020 that correspond to men and 1,011 to women.

Despite the fact that Salud reported yesterday that the agency’s “dasboard” would show information today on the number of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and using artificial respirators, the platform does not yet contain those data.

As for the municipalities with the highest incidence of the disease, San Juan continues to dominate the list with 298 cases, followed by Bayamón with 111 and Guaynabo with 110. The new municipality that reported cases of the virus was Vieques. According to the data provided by Health, there are six infected people on the island municipality.

Meanwhile, the number of cases between the ages of 50 to 59 years increased to 415, thus maintaining the age range with the most positives. It is followed by 40 to 49 years old with 377 and 30 to 39 years old with 332.
