Psycho: here are the 4 happiest years of our lives, according to science

Do you realize that you are currently living in a particularly rotten period? What if the worst is yet to come?! A survey reveals what the least happy four years of our life would be…

LThe human being is not satisfied with his condition: as a child or adolescent he dreams of the freedom enjoyed by adults, but once an adult he dreams with melancholy of the idleness of his youth. Always driven by the desire for a better situation, never satisfied with its current state. Therefore, it is difficult to be able to objectively decide on what could be defined as “the best period of our lives”.

But this without counting on science, which has the answer to everything! And more specifically, on Spanish researcher Begoña Álvarezwho wanted to get to the bottom of it and conducted a study whose conclusions were published in the scientific journal Research on social indicatorsrelationships Cosmopolitan. To do this, the researcher interviewed 28,000 people aged 50 and overand asked them about how they looked in retrospect about their course of life.

A result that speaks volumes

The researcher’s investigation actually focused on the opposite requestknow what are the happiest years. But the results gathered thanks to his study allow us to trace, in a vacuum, the period in which we would, on the contrary, be the least happy. That’s how Begoña Álvarez addressed herself 3 questions to the interviewees : Was there a specific moment when you were happier than the rest of your life? If yes, when did this period start? And when did it stop? A double reality emerges from his investigation: the first four years of our thirties would be the most fulfilling, when the ones where we are least happy would be between our 10 and 14 years.

A result as sad as it is eloquent: this period corresponds to that of puberty, a thankless age in which we go from being a child to being an adolescent, and where we struggle to tame our bodily changes as much as our emotional evolutions. These years also coincide with when we spend most of our time in collegea place of refuge for some, a real hell for those who are victims of it school harassment. However, as we know today, they are not in the minority: almost 8 out of 10 students are victims of violence inside their establishment, warns the recent survey of the Apprentis d’Auteuil.
