PSOE Demands Direct Bus Line from La Mata to Hospital, Torrevieja

214 kilometers separate Torrevieja from Valencia and just six separate La Mata, the only Torrevieja district, from the hospital in the salt city. In the first case, the car journey is about two hours and 20 minutes and, in the second, it is only about ten minutes if there is no traffic jam on the N-332. However, if the mother chooses to take public transport, the time it takes to go to the Turia capital by car and the time taken to go to the hospital can be exactly the same: two hours or more.

The PSOE of Torrevieja has shown this in a video that it has posted on its social networks and that it takes advantage of to demand that a direct bus line be enabled between La Mata and the hospital. Well, he complains, it cannot be that the natives of the district take “the same time as the mayor to go by car to Valencia.”

The video is also a response to another broadcast by the councilor himself, Eduardo Dolón, on his personal Facebook and Instagram accounts. In this he showed what his work day was like in the Valencian Cortes. From breakfast and shaving at his house in Torrevieja to the trip, meetings, plenary sessions and returning home at night.

The socialists’ video, on the other hand, boasts views of all of Torrevieja in an eternal journey that passes through all the coves, Los Locos, Avenida de las Habaneras, Ramón Gallud until stopping at the Eras de la Sal interchange. There They again take another bus to cross Gregorio Marañón, Los Náufragos, Mar Azul and, finally, two hours later, arrive at the university hospital. The urban transportation service in the city has a multitude of complaints due to its frequencies and coverage ranges. A transport that is rarely used by those who have no other alternative to get around. Furthermore, its administrative situation is delicate. The City Council has been paying the invoices of the multinational Avanza without a contract for ten years, omitting the intervening function.

In the last term, the government team took steps to solve this situation and try to put out to tender a new contract that puts the service in question. The last Plenary Session, without going any further, resolved an appeal by former Los Verdes councilor, Israel Muñoz. Environmentalists accused the executive of trying to maneuver so that the service would fall back to the same company.
