Yesterday firmware update 7.50 appeared for the PlayStation 4, an update that is mandatory if you want to continue to use the online functionalities. In general, updating goes well, without major problems. In this case, however, some issues seem to arise with the Blu-ray drive.
On Reddit to be in the meantime a number of topics and find responses from people who get an “SU-42118-6” error after updating. This error has an annoying effect, as the result may be that discs can no longer be read and in some cases the PlayStation 4 will also no longer eject the disc.
There are also reports that the PlayStation 4 stops working completely or that internet connection problems arise, but this is less common. It could of course be a collection of unlucky people who happen to run into problems at the same time. It is also possible that firmware 7.50 is not completely in order.
If firmware 7.50 does indeed cause problems, Sony will undoubtedly come soon with version 7.51 or slightly higher to rectify it.
