Corona crisis: Boeing loses another large order for 737 Max

The aircraft leasing division of the US industrial group General Electrics (GE) has canceled the purchase of 69 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. The ailing US aircraft manufacturer is losing further orders for its problem aircraft.

GE Capital Aviation Services announced the cancellation in Norwalk. The company had to adjust the order book in the face of the corona pandemic, which is affecting the aviation industry.

However, the GE subsidiary continues to rely on Boeing’s 737 Max and still has orders for 82 of the jets, said CEO Greg Conlon. The cancellation terms agreed with Boeing are confidential.

The Airbus competitor is losing more and more orders for its Crisis Jet 737 Max, which has been banned from take-off after two devastating crashes. A total of 314 orders for the model were withdrawn in the first quarter. The corona virus pandemic has further aggravated the situation for Boeing in recent months.
