The French-speaking majority parties MR and PS do not listen to the request from their Dutch-speaking coalition partners to also adjust the sickness scheme for MPs in the House. The Flemish Parliament decided this week that people who are ill for a long time will no longer have access to a full salary. MR and PS do not understand why the House should intervene, “purely and only because of the absence of one Flemish Member of Parliament”.
