Caution, that’s the stage name ofOlivia Merilahti, whose talent came to light thanks to the success of the duo The DØ, which she formed with Dan Levy in 2004. Once the duo’s adventure came to an end, Olivia embarked on a new artistic project: Prudence, which we are talking about in this article.
Since May 28, 2021, it is possible for us to enjoy Prudence’s first album on all platforms. Concerned about the pleasure of our ears, the singer wasted no time and unveiled an EP on November 12, The Submarine Files.
Beginnings, Prudence’s first album, takes us on a discovery of the world of Prudence where music and science fiction mingle. Not far away and yet so close to Beginnings, the singer’s first EP opens the doors to a more intimate and deep musical dimension.
I have to say that The Submarine Files is not an EP like the others. Prudence covers some songs from his album in versions with much more refined melodies. So, you will find on this EP the titles “Adrenaline”, “Offenses” and “Pretty”. A more personal way of interpreting these pieces, which allows us to rediscover the purity of the singer’s voice.
If the productions become more organic on Claude Violante’s modular piano, Prudence’s style remains unchanged and the parallel with her album comes naturally.
Che project is not just a reissue, since we discover the new title at the opening “Hell 21″ whose clip was released on the same day as The Submarine Files.
Very inspired by pioneering artists of electronic music, it is not surprising to find the cover of “Your Power” by Billie Eilish at the end of this EP.
If we had to summarize The Submarine Files in a few words, it probably looks like this EP is a mixture of futurism, simplicity and purity.
Prudence’s 2021 tour will end at the Gaîté Lyrique in Paris on December 15, a date not to be missed!
