Proven Killing, Judge Jamaluddin’s Wife Sentenced to Death

The Medan District Court Judges sentenced death Zuraida Hanum. She was found guilty of premeditated murder of Medan District Court judge Jamaluddin, who was her husband.

“Causing the death of Zuraida Hanum with the death penalty,” said a panel of judges led by Erinuah Damanik and accompanied by judges Dahlia SH and Immanuel Tarigan, at the Medan State Court on Wednesday (1/7).

In contrast to Zuraida Hanum, the two executors of the murder of Jamaluddin, M. Jefri Pratama and Reza Fahlevi were sentenced lighter.

Jefri, who is also an affair with Zuraida, was sentenced to life imprisonment. While Reza Fahlevi was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In the online trial, the jury stated that the third act of the defendant was legally and convincingly found in the original allegation of Article 340 of the Penal Code Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st and 2nd Criminal Courts.

In weighing the matter, the council said it could not find any excuse and excuse for the act Zuraida had done to her husband.

Then the defendant’s actions were sadistic because they were carried out while Jamaluddin was sleeping. The act was carried out by the defendant to Jamaluddin who was a state official, a judge who was also the Medan District Court Hhumas.

Emotional Assembly

Judge Immanuel Tarigan when reading the verdict seemed emotional. Immanuel cried as he explained legal considerations which incriminated the defendants’ sentences.

He mentioned that Zuraida had been actively involved in the Karini Dharmayukti Organization which was the activity of the judges’ wives. However, in fact he became the initiator of the husband’s murder

“That Zuraida Hanum had a close relationship with the defendant Jefri Pratama even had a relationship with his wife. The closeness was part of Zuraida’s attempt to have Jefri committed murder. Then Zuraida did not express his remorse,” Immanuel said.

The panel of judges stated that there were no mitigating considerations for the defendants in this sentence. The verdict was also seen to be attended by the son of judge Jamaluddin.

The sentence handed down by the judges is heavier than the prosecutor’s demands. Previously the Public Prosecutor (JPU) prosecuted the three defendants each with life imprisonment.

After reading the verdict, the head of the panel of judges Erintuah Damanik gave an opportunity to the three defendants and the legal advisors and the prosecutor to convey their position on the verdict.

“You can accept it if the decision has fulfilled your sense of justice, you can appeal, or think for seven days to accept or appeal the decision, as well as the Public Prosecutor,” Erintuah said.

In this case, the defendants killed Jamaluddin at around 1:00 a.m. at Royal Monaco Housing Block B No.22 Kelurahan Gedung Johor, Medan Johor District, Medan City, on Friday 29 November 2019.

When the victim was asleep, Zuraida then asked both Jefri and Reza Fahlevi to go down to the 2nd floor to kill Jamaluddin. Reza immediately covered the victim’s face with a cloth pillowcase, Jefri climbed onto the victim’s stomach while holding the victim’s hand.

While defendant Zuraida pressed the victim’s legs with his feet.

After confirming the victim died, the two executors returned to hide on the 3rd floor. At 03.00 WIB, they returned to the victim’s room.

Zuraida then ordered Jefri and Reza to remove the victim’s body to Berastagi using the victim’s Prado car. Prior to the third deportation the defendant was wearing training clothes to the victim’s body.

Furthermore, the corpse of the victim and his car were dumped into the grove of Darman Sembiring’s Palm Garden in Namo Bintang Hamlet II, Suka Dame Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deliserdang Regency, North Sumatra.
