Newly founded alliance calls for rallies in front of the Hessian regional councils and at Darmstadt main train station.

In order to demonstrate against the deportation policy of the state of Hesse, a newly founded “Alliance against Deportation Hesse” (BgA) is calling for rallies in Kassel, Gießen and Darmstadt this Friday and Saturday. These cities are home to the three Hessian regional councils, which, with their “central immigration authorities”, order the deportations.

According to a message, the first of the three rallies will begin this Friday at 12 noon in front of the Central Immigration Office on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße in Kassel. On Saturday the rally starts at 10 a.m. in front of the regional council on Landgraf-Philipp-Platz in Giessen. And the rally in Darmstadt will also start on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the main train station.

In Darmstadt the initiatives Seebrücke Darmstadt and “Community for all – Solidarity communities instead of deportation prison” as well as the Interventionist Left, which is classified as “left-wing extremist” by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, call for the rallies.

In a notification, the deportations ordered by the immigration authorities are described as “an act of violence”. Deportations are “not an administrative act”. It is criticized that for years “the political approach towards those seeking protection has been tightened”. In this way, it is said, “the criminalization and stigmatization of asylum seekers will be promoted”.

The new alliance accuses the three Hessian regional councils and their affiliated central immigration authorities in Darmstadt, Kassel and Gießen of “willingly putting this policy into practice”. The state authorities pursued “partially targeted disintegration, for example by refusing the affected persons employment permits and thus also destroying the opportunity to take up a training position,” is the criticism.

The leeway that the authorities have in their decisions as to who should be deported are “regularly interpreted to the detriment of those affected” in Hesse, according to the coalition’s criticism. It is also criticized that in Hesse in particular more and more people are being deported to civil war countries such as Somalia and Afghanistan.

At the same time, the alliance demands the immediate stop of all deportations, a right to stay for everyone, the abolition of detention pending deportation and that all people be given prospects, adequate housing and medical care and the opportunity to participate in social life.

Next Wednesday, June 16, the alliance, together with the alliance against deportations Rhine-Main, wants to demonstrate in front of the Hessian state parliament in Wiesbaden.
