Protecting Your Android Smartphone from Malware: 3 Essential Methods

Techno.id – No matter how secure the Android operating system is, it is still vulnerable to various types of malware attacks. This malicious software can infiltrate your device’s system and be used for malicious purposes such as stealing personal information.

If malware lands on a device like Smartphpne, it can cause the Android system to be bombarded with advertisements, affect system performance, and make your smartphone overheat.

Malware is designed to hide within the system and remain undetected. So, finding actively hidden malware can be very tricky.

This type of malware can infiltrate your system if you download files from untrusted sources, visit websites, and open suspicious links. So, if you feel that your Android smartphone may have been infected with malware, Techno.id has listed a series of methods that you can use to track whether your smartphone has been infected with malware.

1. Check the app from the settings menu

Malware is known to disguise itself as a regular application on Android. Additionally, some malware may even hide its launch icon, so you don’t see additional apps you don’t remember downloading. You should check all the apps in settings just to be sure.

1. Open Settings.

2. Open the Application.

3. Check any apps that look suspicious.

4. Some malware can even name itself after a legitimate-looking system application. Check on the internet what the suspicious application is doing.

If you find a suspicious app that might be malware, you can simply click on it and tap Uninstall to remove it.

2. Scan with Play Protect

Although the Android Play Store is mostly used for downloading apps, the platform also has some additional functions. For example, you can use the Play Protect feature to scan your system for malicious applications. Here’s how to do it.

1. Open Play Store.

2. Click your account icon at the top right.

3. Select Play Protect.

4. Tap Scan.

Play Protect will start scanning for any malicious apps on your phone.

3. Check app permissions

App permissions can tell you a lot about what a particular app does. In order for malware to do most of its activities, they need to have permission to access certain things.

You can check any app that looks suspicious by checking its permissions. If a simple calculator app has permission to access your camera, microphone, files and media, and contacts, there is definitely something wrong with the app. Here’s how to check app permissions.

1. Launch Settings on Android device.

2. Scroll down and tap Apps.

3. Click on the suspicious application.

4. Tap Permissions to check all the permissions.

If you find a suspicious app with access to permissions unrelated to the app’s function, you can use the same method as above to uninstall it.
