Prosalud Donates 635 Vaccine Transport Thermoses and 1,470 Temperature Recorders to Santa Cruz Governorate

In an effort to strengthen the vaccination system in the department of Santa Cruz, Prosalud made a significant donation of 635 vaccine transport thermoses and 1,470 temperature recorders to the Santa Cruz Governorate. The ceremony was attended by Edil Toledo, Departmental Secretary of Health; Marta Mérida, executive director of Prosalud; and Julio César Koca, director of the Departmental Health Service (Sedes).

During the event, Toledo expressed his gratitude to Prosalud for its continued commitment to supporting the health of Santa Cruz, not only in the medical care provided at the centers, but also through collaborations like this one. He stressed that Prosalud “has been and will continue to be a strategic alliance for the Government.”

For her part, Marta Mérida, executive director of Prosalud, highlighted the technical characteristics of the donated thermometers. These have the ability to read and record temperatures that range from -30 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees, and they even have a light alarm that warns of any deviation in the temperature in the thermos. In addition, it is possible to track the temperature that a vaccine stored in the thermos has maintained over time.

Regarding the thermos, he explained that they have a 2.6 liter storage capacityThey are light, weighing 2.7 kilos empty and 6.8 kilos when full.

He indicated that they are an instrument of vital importance for the safe transport of vaccinesallowing the health teams and nursing assistants who participate in the vaccination brigades to maintain the quality of the biologicals for 32 hours.

This donation, with a value of Bs 402,000, It was acquired through Unicef, a United Nations (UN) mechanism, and is part of a batch of 4,000 thermoses and 8,000 thermometers donated to the country.



Julio César Koca, director of the Headquarters, affirmed that all the thermoses received will be used to strengthen the vaccination system in the provinces and health centers distributed throughout the department of Santa Cruz.

He also announced that, in collaboration with Prosalud, a project of training for nursing assistants at the departmental level, financed by the donor responsible for the donation.

Prosalud is a Bolivian non-profit organization, which was founded in 1985 with the objective of working in line with the National Health Policy. Its mission is to expand access, coverage, and improve the quality of health services for the benefit of all Bolivians.
