Promes is training with Ajax | for the first time since arrest NOW

Quincy Promes resumed training at Ajax on Thursday. The attacker spent two nights in jail after he was arrested on Sunday as a suspect in a stabbing.

Ajax reports in one short statement that Promes held talks on Wednesday and Thursday with general director Edwin van der Sar, football affairs director Marc Overmars and head coach Erik ten Hag.

Promes himself claims to be innocent. His cousin filed a complaint last month against the 47-time international of Orange. At a family party in Abcoude last summer, Promes allegedly stabbed him in the leg with a knife.

The attacker is still a suspect in the case. Ten Hag reported on Wednesday that Promes can play against ADO Den Haag on Sunday, if he is mentally able to do so.

“Quincy says he has done nothing and I believe him”, said the Ajax coach. “In the Netherlands you are innocent, until proven otherwise. We support him, that’s the whole dressing room in it.”

ADO Den Haag against Ajax starts on Sunday at 2.30 p.m. Ajax in any case misses David Neres, while Lassina Traoré and Noussair Mazraoui are still a question mark.
