Problems with Big Sur on Your Mac and How to Solve Them

Launched in November 2020, the new OS Big Sur features a great design change, and of course, many people prefer to install it and try out. Needless to say, every new software may cause some problems. Whether you are impatient about trying the beta version or the public release, there can be some issues. In our short article, we will try to describe several troubles with macOS 11 and possible solutions to solve them easily.

  1. Big Sur won’t download on your device.

Of course, downloading any software takes time, but if you wait for hours or the OS won’t download at all, it means that things go wrong. Any troubles with updating the system can be solved easily with these ways:

    • Check out the Mac model you have that can run this OS.
    • Check out your Internet connection is fast enough to allow you to download this software without wasting time.
    • Check the Apple system status page. If the downloading server is down currently, some problems may occur.
    • Delete some junk files to free up some space not the device. Sometimes, the system won’t download because it needs enough space. For the downloading and installment, your Mac needs about 15GB or a bit more.

2. The OS won’t install at all.

In fact, you will never know why this problem occurs when you try to download this software successfully but then it just stuck when you install it on theMac. You can try to reboot your device in Safe Mode. Just hold down the Shift button during the rebooting process and then restart the installation.

    3. The battery of the Mac drains much faster.

It’s a common problem with this operating system when you experience the device’s battery drains much faster than it was usual. Try to open ActivityMonitor and see if you’ve updated all the apps. Click the icon with a battery to check out what processes may take juices from the battery. Try to close them and check out if something changes.

    4. The new installed system runs slowly.

When you already installed the Big Sur on the device, it may happen the computer runs very slow. Sometimes the system may show a notification that informs about the device’s performance and battery life can be affected for some time, and it’s normal because the OS is still doing some important issues after the installment, so this may impact the device’s performance. Just try to wait a bit, and the device should be working fine again. If something is still wrong, we recommend restarting the computer.

    5. Noisy fans just after the OS is updated<

Some people who use Macs have reported the issue with noisy fans on their devices after they’ve installed the Big Sur. This problem may occur because the device is still working on some things updating the whole system, like updating all the apps, so the fans work hard to keep it cool. Usually, the problem with fans disappears after several hours.

    6. Bricked device

If you’ve deleted all the files from the hard drive and installed the new system, you risk getting a bricked computer or laptop. If it happened, don’t worry – you have no more variants but to bring the Mac to the Apple store nearby and ask professionals for help.

    7. Apps aren’t working properly

You may notice that not all the applications work properly on the new system, and if it happened, don’t forget to check for updates. Installing new updates usually helps to fix these troubles. But if it didn’t help, restart your device, or try to delete applications and download them again.
