After installing current updates for Windows 7 some users report a new bug: The desktop background has disappeared. Instead, users have a black background. That reports “heise online.”

The updates have the version numbers KB4534310 and KB4534314. This is probably the last one update for Windows 7 private customers. Microsoft discontinued support for the operating system on January 14th. More on this read here, Corporate customers still receive support against payment.

If you’re still using Windows 7, according to Microsoft, it’s best to get the current one Windows 10 switch. The update is still available free of charge. More on this read here,

How to fix the problem

According to “heise online”, only users who have selected the “stretched” mode for the background image receive the problem. In this case, users should select the “Centered” setting for the image. After that, the error should be fixed and you can use the old settings again.

If that doesn’t help, you should forego a background image. The update can also be uninstalled. You should avoid this option, however, since the update also closed many security gaps.
