ProB or N1? The C’Chartres Basket Masculin will be fixed on its fate this Wednesday

D-day has arrived. Finally ! It’s this Wednesday that C’Chartres Basket Masculin, 1st in the ranking of National 1, will know its future. Stopped in its tracks in March with the appearance of the epidemic of coronavirus which engendered the definitive stop of the amateur championships and the decision of the FFBB to pronounce “white season”, the CCBM felt cheated, frustrated by this last decision. Last week, the LNB declared a halt to competition for the professional world.

And this Wednesday, May 27th is the GA of the LNB during which the format of the seasons to come must be voted, with four possible scenarios, one of which (scenario 2) could propel the CCBM into ProB.

Should we wait for the Covid-19 vaccine before returning to sport as before?

Scenario 1

White season. In this case, the Jeep Élite and the ProB will start from scratch with no climb or descent with the same 18 teams as in 2019-2020.
Verdict: unfavorable to the CCBM.

Scenario 2

Season frozen with promotions and relegations. The rankings remain as they are after 25 days of Jeep Elite and 24 of ProB. Ascent (s) and descent (s) to stop.
Verdict: unfavorable to the CCBM.

Scenario 3

Jeep Elite at 20 clubs. This third scenario submitted to the AG would see 20 clubs play in the next Jeep Elite season, with two promoted (Blois and Quimper or Nantes), and 16 that of ProB. The GA will then have to decide on the number of clubs in ProB, on the climbs of National 1 and on the formats of 2021-2022 (maintenance at 20 and 18 or return to 18 and 18 with three descents and one climb).
Verdict: favorable to the CCBM.

Scenario 4

Fusion of the seasons. The current results (or only those of the first leg) are kept and a “2019-2021” ranking is established.
Verdict: unfavorable to the CCBM.
