Pro after secret meeting “Bungie is really listening”

At Destiny 2 there was a community summit between the elite and the developer. It is now speculated that Bungie wants to save PvP. There is talk of a “bright future” on Twitter.

This meeting is about: Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, invited to a “Community Summit” on March 31st. The meeting took place behind closed doors – and digitally. Members of the community were invited to give Bungie their opinion and work with the developers to find solutions to the Guardians’ worst problems.

The community is represented by Destiny celebrities. Twitch streamers, content creators and YouTubers are supposed to lend their voice to the guardians. Those present are not allowed to speak about the content of the meeting, but a few small hints on Twitter and Co. cannot completely resist.

Community Summits in Destiny 2: Bungie has held such community summits in the past. These meetings, some of which lasted for days, resulted in changes that were mostly perceived as positive by the guardians. The parade DLC Forsaken is said to have been significantly influenced by it.
In the past, too, those involved wore muzzles, but could not contain their anticipation.

“They really listen … and do something” – Guardians wanted to hear that

Thanks to the agreements on secrecy, we don’t really have much concrete information. But the comments of the streamers on Twitter give the community hope.

Do you want to save PvP? It is noticeable at the latest secret meeting that the PvP professionals who were invited express themselves very benevolently on Twitter. This leads to the conclusion that the focus of the summit this time was the ailing PvP.

GernaderJake (GJake), a streamer who searches up and down the trials, has been very critical of the state of the PvP endgame in the past. He had doubts about the future of Destiny 2. After the most recent meeting, his words were far more optimistic:

At first, GJake was very pleased to be able to participate in the secret meeting. Like participants before him, he speaks positively about not only bringing suggestions and ideas to Bungie but also being able to discuss them. Then he assures his followers that the future looks bright. One should trust him there.

The PvP expert CoolGuy, whose YouTube videos we regularly quote for weapon tests on MeinMMO, was also at the summit:

Even CoolGuy cannot (and is not allowed to) talk about specifics. According to him, Destiny 2 is going in the right direction. And Bungie would “really listen” – the community already knows that quote. Then what CoolGuy says is pleasing: “And they do something. Do a lot. “

This is the criticism: Because that is exactly what Bungie is often accused of, that they listen carefully and know what the community wants. But then Bungie doesn’t act or at best comes up with a plan C that makes things even worse.

It remains to be seen what the announced “bright future” looks like and when it will arrive. Other members of the community were also present and expressed their opinion positively about the secret meeting. We cannot say at the moment whether it is really because of the talks with Bungie or the great honor for the first time to meet the developer of the game, which practically makes a living.

The fact is that such summits have had a good influence on Destiny 2 in the past. And the melting pot could do with a little love.

The melting pot: Destiny 2’s problem child

This is what PvP is like: In Destiny 2, the Guardians who primarily choose the melting pot for their evenings have been feeling abandoned for over a year. The PvP mode has not seen a new map for a long time – many even disappeared with Beyond Light. With season 13 came new trials loot, but that alone is only enough for a short time.

Since the end of 2020, the new stasis capabilities have been terrorizing the balance completely. For a long time, Bungie didn’t say a word about PvP, many players felt like second-class guardians and revolted: In Destiny 2, players are now rebelling against PvP – why?

Just recently, Bungie broke the silence and took a stand on PvP. A big patch followed that was supposed to bring stasis in line with the other classes. At the same time it was announced that they were striving for cheaters, unfair advantages and more balance.

Lord Shaxx is the PvP head, the Guardians love him – unfortunately not the melting pot

What do you think was discussed at the Community Summit? Do you really think Bungie wants to save PvP now? Or are you one of those Guardians who prefer to be in PvE and say that the melting pot only brings problems? Let us know in the comments.
