The Danish Church Christmas Market in Paris is open!
This November 25, 2022, exactly one month before Christmas Day, Princess Marie went to the 8th arrondissement of Paris, where the Danish church is located, to open the Christmas market organized by the parish. The opening of the Danish Christmas market in Paris has almost become a tradition for Princess Marie. She was accompanied by her husband on this tour.
The “Julebasar” is the biggest event of the year for the church and its community. As the holidays approach, you can buy Danish specialities, decorative objects and gifts of all kinds. Proceeds benefit the church and the charities it supports.

Joachim and Marie kick off the Christmas season in Frederikskirken
Prince Joachim and his family have lived in Paris since 2020. Prince Joachim works as a defense attaché at the Danish embassy and his wife works in the cultural department of the embassy. The couple’s two children, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena, were at school on Friday.
Prince Joachim has felt a bit at home, stopping by the stalls offering ‘Smørrebrød’, ‘glögg’, ‘æbleskiver’ and other Frederikskirken-style specialities. This year, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie will not be returning to Denmark for Christmas. The couple will take their children abroad for the holidays. Queen Margrethe II will celebrate her Christmas with her sister Benedikte at Marselisborg Castle. Crown Prince Frederik and his wife will also leave Denmark at Christmas. They decided to spend the holidays in Australia, the hometown of Crown Princess Mary.
