Prince Albert’s wife, who is struggling with an ear, nose and throat infection, had to go under the knife for four hours on Friday. The palace has confirmed that.
Charlène has been in South Africa since May after contracting an infection. Her husband, Prince Albert, was still in Monaco with their children all this time. Charlène even missed her tenth wedding anniversary with the prince in July, but the palace statement states that the prince will travel to South Africa with their children to “accompany her during her recovery period”.

“It’s terribly frustrating. I can’t fly, because then I get problems with my ears,” says Charlène herself. Earlier this week it was announced that the princess has to stay at least until the end of October. “This is my longest time in South Africa, since I moved to Monaco in 2007.”
