Prevents Follow-up Clashes of 2 Mass Organizations, Police Standby at the Cianjur-Sukabumi Border

Two mass organizations clashed on the Cianjur-Sukabumi border. Hundreds of police patrolled the area to prevent further clashes.

According to detikcom monitoring, until Sunday (26/7) night at around 20.40 WIB, dozens of police officers were on guard at the location of the clashes in Gekbrong Village, Gekbrong District, Cianjur Regency. In addition, police personnel were also alerted at the Cianjur or Sukabumi borders to dispel mass movements.

“We have prepared 100 personnel from the Cianjur Police to guard the scene and a number of other vulnerable points. The Sukabumi Police have also deployed personnel,” said Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Doni Hermawan, Sunday (26/9/2021).

“We are taking precautions to prevent further clashes,” he added.

According to him, the Cianjur Police are currently hunting for members of mass organizations which resulted in one person being killed in the clashes. “We are currently investigating and looking for the perpetrators, both the perpetrators who caused one person to die or those who were injured,” he said.

Previously, two Community Organizations (Ormas) namely Pemuda Pancasila and BPPKB were involved in clashes on the Cianjur-Sukabumi border, precisely in Gekbrong Village, Gekbrong District, Cianjur, Sunday (26/9/2021) afternoon. As a result, one person died.

According to information gathered, the clash occurred at around 15:00 WIB. The masses of the two mass organizations clashed with sharp weapons. Even the BPPKB headquarters on the Cianjur-Sukabumi border was burned down.

The police chief said that the clash between PP and BPPKB organizations in Cianjur was the aftermath of the previous clash in Sumedang.

“There was a physical clash between the two CSOs this afternoon. It was triggered by the incident in Sumedang. In Cianjur there was no conflict, but this is the impact of the incident in Sumedang,” he said.
